The Travel DRS would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Veterans, our Troops in Afghanistan and Iraq along with all our military right here in the USA for allowing us the freedoms we have.
The 4th of July has taken on new meaning to The Travel DRS with a son in Afghanistan and a cousin in Iraq. The 4th of July is a day to salute the flag, think about our freedom, honor our country and spend time with our famillies.
For all those families that have loved ones in the military that can not be with you on this holiday we are standing proud with you.
God Bless the USA!
SWINE FLU UPDATE AS OF MAY 1, 2009
5/1/200910:31:42 AM Link 0 comments | Add comment
As of May 1, 2009 here isthe information The Travel DRS have found on the Swine Flu pandemic, as The Travel DRS are concerned over the health and safety of all their clients we are watching the Swine Flu closely and will contact our clients that have booked honeymoons/destination weddings/vacations to Mexico.
Swine flu: Travel updateThe U.S. has not yet issued an alert for travelers to Mexico related to swine flu. But officials expect that the U.S. State Department would (on its travel alert page).
UPDATE: Travel alerts have been issued by the State Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requesting "nonessential travel to Mexico be avoided". Suppliers are waiving fees and allowing rebooking up to May 16, 2009 at this time.
Meanwhile, the CDC is preparing yellow cards for travelers with details about the illness, which is apparently hard to distinguish from seasonal flu. If you have had the flu shot and come down with flu like symtoms contact your doctor as you are NOT immune from this strain.
Thankfully, several airlines, such as Continental, United, and US Airways, are waiving change penalties for customers flying through Mexico because of an outbreak of swine flu.
For example, American Airlines is waiving its usual fee for changing bookings for anyone traveling to, from, or through Mexico through May 6 (if you bought your ticket before this past weekend).
Cruise lines have not reported any outbreaks. About one out of every four cruises stop at a Mexican port. The cruise line has altered and repositioned cruises to Mexico. If your booked your cruise through The Travel DRS information will be sent to you on new ports.
"Mexico's health minister said swine flu has killed up to 86 people and likely sickened up to 1,400 since April 13," reports the AP.
Some countries, such as India, and the European Union are discouraging non-essential travel to the U.S. and to our southern neighbor.

Hi from your favorite Travel Agent Dawn... LOL....here is what TheTravel DRS have been up to lately, I will call this Something Old:
The Travel DRS had the dubios honor of doing not One but Two Bridal trade shows one in August with Wedding Extravaganza in Springfield held that the Expo Center, and a final and we do mean FINAL Wedding Extravaganza two weeks later in September at the John Q Hammons convention center in Joplin. It was soooo nice to see all the Bride and Grooms to-be that The Travel DRS have been working with or have booked Honeymoons/Destination Weddings for.
I bet you are wondering about the FINAL Wedding Extravaganza? Well, here is one of my Something New for all The Travel DRS Blogers:
Wedding Extravaganza has been sold to Dawn Sheilds Photography and has been renamed Metropolitan Bride. Watch for some real exciting changes! We would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners of Wedding Extravanganza for their Beautifully done, professional Bridal shows and excellent customer service. The Travel DRS would also like to congratulate Dawn Shields Photography and let them know we look forward to seeing your fresh new creative additions to these Bridal shows, oh, on a personal note: Thank you Metropolitan Bride for your heads-up move in keeping Megan & Tina onboard!
I am also wanting to share with The Travel DRS Bloggers the other something new that The Travel DRS just received. "Inquiring minds want to know", This is on a merger between Delta Airlines and Northwest airlines, please read the following we received thru OSSN:
AIRLINES: Delta, Northwest Shareholders Approve Merger Plans
9/26/2008 -
Shareholders of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines voted overwhelmingly (by 99 percent and 98 percent, respectively) to approve the carriers’ proposed merger. In fact, the Northwest shareholders meeting is likely the last for that company under the Northwest name.
Way to keep us flying! From The Travel DRS Blog page that's it for today.
