Hi from your favorite Travel Agent Dawn... LOL....here is  what TheTravel DRS have been up to lately, I will call this Something Old:

The Travel DRS had the dubios honor of doing not One but Two Bridal trade shows one in August with Wedding Extravaganza in Springfield held that the Expo Center, and a final and we do mean FINAL Wedding Extravaganza two weeks later in September at the John Q Hammons convention center in Joplin. It was soooo nice to see all the Bride and Grooms to-be that The Travel DRS have been working with or have booked Honeymoons/Destination Weddings for.

I bet you are wondering about the FINAL Wedding Extravaganza?  Well, here is one of my Something New for all The Travel DRS Blogers:

Wedding Extravaganza has been sold to Dawn Sheilds Photography and has been renamed Metropolitan Bride. Watch for some real exciting changes! We would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners of Wedding Extravanganza for their Beautifully done, professional Bridal shows and excellent customer service. The Travel DRS would also like to congratulate Dawn Shields Photography and let them know we look forward to seeing your fresh new creative additions to these Bridal shows, oh, on a personal note: Thank you Metropolitan Bride for your heads-up move in keeping Megan & Tina onboard!

I am also wanting to share with The Travel DRS Bloggers the other something new  that The Travel DRS just received. "Inquiring minds want to know", This is on a merger between Delta Airlines and Northwest airlines, please read the following we received thru OSSN:

AIRLINES: Delta, Northwest Shareholders Approve Merger Plans
    9/26/2008 -

Shareholders of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines voted overwhelmingly (by 99 percent and 98 percent, respectively) to approve the carriers’ proposed merger. In fact, the Northwest shareholders meeting is likely the last for that company under the Northwest name.

Way to keep us flying!  From The Travel DRS Blog page that's it for today.

  • Lets attempt to Hurricane Proof you Vacation

TheTravel DRS work with some REMARKABLE suppliers when it comes to Hurricane awareness!

We received information thru Travel & Leisure of a scenerio with Hurricane Wilma in 2005, where our suppier Travel Impressions chartered an aircraft and flew 150 of Wima hurricane stranded clients back home!

HURRAY for Travel Impressions, it is no wonder that they are one of  The Travel DRS favorite suppliers!

Now for the ounce of attempted prevention, please review the following sent to The Travel DRS thru Travel & Leisure and we felt compelled to pass this information on to our clients:

Peak hurricane season, which runs between August and October in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and the U.S. south Atlantic coast, is certainly nothing to take lightly. And this year’s season may see a fair bit of storm activity: according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), there’s a 67 percent chance that in the next few months 14 to 18 storms, with winds of at least 40 mph, will be generated. Seven to 10 of these storms may be hurricanes, with winds of 75 mph.

Still, the lure of these warm-weather destinations, especially during the off-season, can be hard to resist. Crowds are thin, prices are excellent, perks—like free meals and spa treatments—are numerous, and very often, the weather winds up being perfectly fine (if slightly more humid than in high-season months). So, the question is: are there ways to “hurricane-proof” a vacation—to minimize the chances that a storm will ruin a low-season trip to the tropics?

Indeed there are—although most of the tricks for lessening hurricane risks require some research on the traveler’s part. The Internet can be an indispensable tool for scoping out predicted weather patterns, for example, or for comparing the hurricane policies of different hotels, tour groups, and airlines. Booking accommodations and flights with The Travel DRS where they are familiar with companies that offer hurricane guarantees (most often in the form of penalty-free rebooking) this is a good way to safeguard a vacation; so it is reccommend to every client to purchase traveler’s insurance (when making a booking).

Other “hurricane-proofing” methods are less obvious, but can be just as helpful for ensuring a tropical holiday. Many travelers don’t know that booking a cruise, for instance—or vacationing at one of a handful of Caribbean resort areas and islands that fall outside common storm paths (like Bonaire and the San Blas Islands)—can make a big difference in hurricane risk.

While these strategies may not be foolproof, they can go a long way toward protecting travelers' tropical vacation plans (and, worst-case scenario, the travelers themselves). There may not be any way to control the weather, but there are plenty of ways to maximize security—and the likelihood that a dream vacation won’t become a nightmare.

Please note that The Travel DRS encourage "travel insurance" whenever they do bookings!
